On a beautiful Autumn Sunday morning about 50 "survivors" boarded the "Spirit of Sacramento" for a two hour cruise down river and back to Old Sacramento. The brunch was surprisingly good, and we all "kicked back" and enjoyed ourselves with champagne and bloody marys. Voyagers were also treated to an excellent view of Le Rivage, Sacramento's newest luxury, riverside hotel. The highlight of the morning, however, was the touching "Remembrance" ceremony in honor of our 92 deceased classmates. While David Parent read each name, everyone pulled the red and white carnations from the beautiful lei, woven by Georgia Fabian, and tossed them into the river. We disembarked at 12:30 and said our good-byes for another 2, 3 or 5 years - a mellow end to a wonderful weekend! |
